Xiaomi Recalls 117,000 SU7 EVs Following Fatal Crash Linked to Software Flaws
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is recalling 116,877 units of its SU7 electric sedan after regulators identified safety risks in the vehicle's driver-assistance software. The MOVE follows a fatal accident earlier this year tied to the system's failure to meet Level 2 autonomous driving standards.
The State Administration for Market Regulation revealed the software may inadequately detect certain road scenarios, potentially leading to accidents when drivers over rely on safety warnings. Affected vehicles were produced between February 2024 and August 2025.
Xiaomi plans to deploy an over-the-air update to address the performance gaps. The recall marks a significant setback for the smartphone maker's ambitious EV push, echoing similar software challenges faced by Tesla and BYD in recent months.
